“I passed Miles Davis house every day as a kid in NYC, and all us kids knew that when Miles and Trane and Cannonball blew their horns, they blew the playhouse down. This girl can blow, as her peers would say (and there aren't many).”

about.

I'm Donné, and I've been singing jazz since I could open my mouth.

Some people say I sound like Amy Winehouse, others Shirley Bassey - but I can tell you my strongest vocal influence is Anita O'Day. If I had my pick of all the greatest jazz musos on (or off) the planet to back me, I would go for probably go for the madness of Mingus Big Band,

I've recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer, Jeff Bova (produced & played with Herbie Hancock among others) and Vinnie Coliauta (Drummer, Frank Zappa/Herbie Hancock) and, as the artist called Kitty Clementine, toured with LA-based circus, Lucent Dossier Experience.

I majored in Jazz Voice at the Sydney Conservatorium, mentored by Kerrie Biddell. I have sung with John Morrison Big Band, supported James Morrison, John Cleary (USA) had the incredible privilege of supporting 5-time Grammy Award-winning gospel group, The Blind Boys of Alabama (USA).

Some of my favourite Aussie musicians to play with include: Aaron 'BAZ' Flower, Evan Mannell, Ivan Jordan and all the excellent musos that play with The Swingin' Blades. These incredible people have me playing again after a six-year hiatus from music -  and I couldn't be more grateful.

If you'd like to learn more about my journey through motherhood, music and art, you may enjoy 8GridProject - my creative space to explore all of this.

There is a new album in the works, but for now I am playing as much jazz as possible.
